Abstract:
The concept of the need to belong experienced long-time evolution and development, and the need to belong had its own psychological mechanism of evolution. Since the theory that the need to belong is a basic motivation was proposed by Baumeister in 1995, the relevant research between the need to belong and cognition, emotion, behavior has further explored, some conclusions were further confirmed, but there also were inconsistent findings. Meanwhile, the inner process of the need to belong and behavior consequences was also explored. As to the measurement of the need to belong, the measuring scales were used, but there was no one measuring scale accepted by most, which easily led to the differences of measurement. As to the measurement of the deprivation of the need to belong, the experimental control method were used, the future study needs pay more attention to its ecological validity.
